A best covering material with good hygroscopicity, air permeability, and some light transmittance is agricultural non woven cloth. There are three categories for spunbond nonwoven fabrics: thin, thick, and thick. The thickness, water permeability, shading rate, air permeability, covering techniques, and applications of non-woven materials vary.

Thin non-woven fabrics, typically weighing 20–30 g/m2, are light and have high air and water permeabilities. Both open fields and floating surfaces in greenhouses can be covered with them. Small arched huts and greenhouses can also be made with them. The temperature can rise by 0.73–3.0°C. Non-woven materials weighing 40–50g/m2 are heavy, have a high shading rate, and have little water permeability.

In addition to being used as thermal insulation curtains in greenhouses, they can also be used to cover small sheds’ exteriors in place of straw curtains in order to improve thermal insulation. This type of non-woven greenhouse fabric is also appropriate for summer and fall culture and shade of seedlings. Replace straw curtains and thatch with thickened non-woven fabrics (100–400 g/m2), and use agricultural film in conjunction with multi-layer covering for greenhouses.

Research indicates that the non-woven cloth used to cover the greenhouse performs significantly better in terms of thermal insulation than the straw curtain. It is also easier to handle and weighs less.
