Freudenberg Performance Materials and the Japanese company Vilene will present solutions for the energy, medical and automotive markets at ANEX.
Freudenberg Performance Materials, a business group of the Freudenberg Group, and Vilene Japan will represent the energy, medical and automotive markets at the Asian Nonwovens Exhibition (ANEX) in Tokyo from June 6 to 8, 2018.
Products range from battery separators and hydrophilic polyurethane foam laminates and water-activated nonwovens to vehicle soundproofing mats.
Redox flow batteries are needed when large amounts of energy need to be stored for several hours and be ready to be discharged at a moment’s notice. The key aspect is optimizing efficiency. Freudenberg non-woven electrodes with a three-dimensional fiber structure have been developed specifically to improve fluid circulation in redox flow batteries. These innovative electrodes have a flexible design that allows them to be tailored to specific customer requirements.
One of the keys to the success of electric vehicles is creating more efficient and safer batteries. Freudenberg lithium-ion battery safety separators consist of ultra-thin PET non-woven material impregnated with ceramic particles. It remains stable at high temperatures and does not shrink. The manufacturer explains that it is much less sensitive to mechanical penetration than conventional products, especially at high temperatures.
Increasing vehicle range is another key to the success of electric vehicles. Japanese company Vilene’s high-voltage Ni-MH battery separators are designed to meet this functional requirement. They have the characteristics of high temperature resistance, high safety performance and fast charging and discharging speed.
Following the launch of MDI foams, Freudenberg Performance Materials continues to systematically expand its product portfolio in this area. The company has now begun mass production of laminates that comply with the ISO 13485 standard, including hydrophilic polyurethane foam and water-activated nonwovens.
Freudenberg nonwovens, made from a bioabsorbable polymer framework, are very versatile in terms of properties and applications. It is flexible and tear-resistant when dry and remains stable even when wet, maintaining its structure and preventing clumping. During operation, the material can be easily and safely positioned in the desired location inside the body. The tissue breaks down on its own in the body over time, eliminating the need for further removal of the bandage.
Vilene Japan transdermal backing material is both elastic and has beneficial physical properties. The company’s disposable respirators protect against particulate matter. Nationally tested, they have high particle removal efficiency and are claimed to provide easy breathing in contaminated environments.
Good sound absorption in vehicles increases the comfort of the driver and passengers. This is also a priority for electric vehicles because electric powertrains produce less noise than internal combustion engines. Therefore, other noise sources in different frequency ranges become more important. Freudenberg will present innovative soundproofing mats designed to provide excellent sound absorption in the vehicle interior. These gaskets are suitable for various applications in automobiles such as door panels, headliner, trunk, cabins, etc.
The Japanese company Vilene will demonstrate a veneered headliner designed to improve interior comfort. They are available in single and multi-color graphic prints and have a smooth finish.
