Quality and safety inspection indicators for non-woven fabric masks

The quality and safety inspection of non-woven fabric masks, a medical hygiene material, is usually quite strict because it concerns people’s health and hygiene. Therefore, the country has specified quality inspection items for the quality inspection of medical non-woven fabric masks from raw material procurement to processing and leaving the factory. The quality and safety inspection indicators are an assessment of the product quality of enterprises and an important condition for judging whether non-woven fabric masks can enter the market for sale!

Quality and safety inspection indicators for non-woven masks:

1、 Filtering efficiency

As is well known, filtration efficiency is a key indicator for evaluating the quality of masks. This is also one of the important quality standards for non-woven fabrics, so referring to relevant standards, we recommend that the bacterial filtration efficiency of non-woven fabrics for masks should not be less than 95%, and the particle filtration efficiency should not be less than 30% for non oily particles.

2、 Respiratory resistance

Respiratory resistance refers to the magnitude of the impact that hinders breathing when people wear masks. So the respiratory resistance of non-woven fabrics in masks determines the comfort of breathing when wearing masks. The recommended indicators here are that the inhalation resistance should be ≤ 350Pa and the exhalation resistance should be ≤ 250Pa.

3、 Health indicators

Hygiene indicators are naturally another important key indicator for non-woven masks. Here we recommend testing items mainly including initial contamination bacteria, total bacterial colony count, coliform group, pathogenic purulent bacteria, total fungal colony count, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, residual ethylene oxide, etc.

4、 Toxicological tests

Skin irritation tests mainly consider protective testing for individuals with material allergies. Refer to the provisions in GB 15979. The skin irritation test for non-woven masks mainly involves cutting a sample of appropriate area in a cross-sectional manner, soaking it in physiological saline, applying it to the skin, and then covering it with spot stickers for testing.
According to the corresponding quality standards of non-woven fabric products, using national quality and safety inspection indicators to test the quality and safety of non-woven fabric masks is to ensure that the quality of non-woven fabric products produced and sold by the production enterprise meets the requirements of the inspection indicators. Only by ensuring that the product quality meets the safety inspection indicators can the quality of non-woven fabric mask products meet the quality requirements!
