Basic introduction of PP nonwoven fabric and polyester non-woven fabric
PP nonwoven fabric, also known as polypropylene non-woven fabric, is made of polypropylene fibers that are melted and spun at high temperatures, cooled, stretched, and woven into non-woven fabric. It has the characteristics of low density, lightweight, breathability, and moisture discharge. The quality of polypropylene non-woven fabric is relatively low and the price is relatively cheap.
Polyester non-woven fabric, also known as polyester non-woven fabric, is a non-woven fabric made by processing polyester fibers through various processes such as heat and chemical additives. It has high stretchability, toughness, friction resistance, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and smoothness. The quality of polyester non-woven fabric is relatively high and the price is relatively expensive.
The difference between PP nonwoven fabric and polyester non-woven fabric
Material difference
In terms of raw materials, PP refers to polypropylene, also known as polypropylene; PET refers to polyester, also known as polyethylene terephthalate. The melting points of the two products are different, PET has a melting point of over 250 degrees, while PP has a melting point of only 150 degrees. Polypropylene is relatively white, and polypropylene fibers have a lower density than polyester fibers. Polypropylene is acid and alkali resistant but not aging resistant, while polyester is aging resistant but not acid and alkali resistant. If your post-processing requires the use of an oven or heating temperature above 150 degrees Celsius, PET can only be used.
Production process difference
Polypropylene non-woven fabric is processed through high-temperature melt spinning, cooling, stretching, and netting into non-woven fabric, while polyester non-woven fabric is processed through various processes such as heat and chemical additives. In terms of production and processing methods, these two have similarities as well as differences. Different processing methods often determine the final application. Relatively speaking, PET is more high-end and expensive. PET polyester non-woven fabric has: firstly, better stability than polypropylene non-woven fabric, mainly manifested in strength, wear resistance and other properties. Due to the use of special raw materials and advanced imported equipment, as well as complex and scientific processing techniques, polyester non-woven fabric has far exceeded the technical content and requirements of polypropylene non-woven fabric.
Characteristic difference
Polypropylene non-woven fabric has the characteristics of low density, lightweight, breathability, and moisture discharge, while polyester non-woven fabric has higher stretchability, toughness, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and smoothness. PP has a high temperature resistance of around 200 degrees, while PET has a high temperature resistance of around 290 degrees, and PET is more resistant to high temperatures than PP. Non woven printing, heat transfer effect, PP with the same width shrinks more, PET shrinks less and has better effect, PET is more economical and less wasteful. Tensile strength, tension, load-bearing capacity, and the same weight, PET has greater tensile strength, tension, and load-bearing capacity than PP. 65 grams of PET is equivalent to the tensile strength, tension, and load-bearing capacity of 80 grams of PP. From an environmental perspective, PP is mixed with recycled PP waste, while PET is made entirely of new polyester chips, making PET more environmentally friendly and hygienic than PP.
PP non-woven fabric has a density of only 0.91g/cm, making it the lightest variety among common chemical fibers. When polyester non-woven fabric is completely amorphous, its density is 1.333g/cm. PP non-woven fabric has poor light resistance, is not resistant to sunlight, and is prone to aging and brittleness. Polyester non-woven fabric: It has good light resistance and only loses 60% of its strength after 600 hours of sunlight exposure.
Different application scenarios
These two types of non-woven fabrics have significant differences in application, but they can be interchangeable in some aspects. There is only a difference in performance. The anti-aging cycle of polyester non-woven fabrics is higher than that of polypropylene non-woven fabrics. Polyester non-woven fabrics use polyvinyl acetate as the raw material, and are resistant to moth, abrasion and ultraviolet rays. The above characteristics are higher than those of polypropylene non-woven fabrics. Compared with polypropylene and other non-woven fabrics, polyester non-woven fabric has excellent properties such as non absorbent, water-resistant, and strong breathability.
Conclusion
In summary, polypropylene non-woven fabric and polyester non-woven fabric are two commonly used non-woven materials. Although there are certain differences in materials, production processes, and characteristics, they also have differences in application scenarios. Only by selecting appropriate non-woven fabric materials based on specific needs can we better meet production demands.
Dongguan Liansheng Non woven Technology Co., Ltd. was established in May 2020. It is a large-scale non-woven fabric production enterprise integrating research and development, production, and sales. It can produce various colors of PP spunbond non-woven fabrics with a width of less than 3.2 meters from 9 grams to 300 grams.
