Two component nonwoven fabric is a functional nonwoven fabric formed by extruding two different performance sliced raw materials from independent screw extruders, melting and composite spinning them into a web, and reinforcing them. The biggest advantage of two-component spunbond nonwoven technology is that it can produce products with different properties through different composite forms using different raw materials, greatly expanding the development space of spunbond nonwoven technology.
Structure and characteristics of two-component spunbond fibers
The two-component spunbond nonwoven production line mainly produces four types of fibers: skin core type, parallel type, orange petal type, and sea island type, based on the different composite spinning components. The following mainly introduces the leather core type and parallel type.
Leather core two-component fibers for spunbond fabrics
The commonly used symbol for skin core fibers is “S/C”, which is the acronym for Skin/Core in English. Its cross-sectional shape can be concentric, eccentric, or irregular.
Leather core fibers are commonly used in heat bonded products, and the melting point of the fiber’s outer layer material is lower than that of the core layer. Effective bonding can be achieved with lower temperature and pressure, giving the product a good hand feel; The core material has high strength, and the strength of non-woven fabric products made of skin core type two-component fibers can be increased by 10% to 25% compared to ordinary products, resulting in good mechanical properties of the products. The products processed with leather core two-component fibers not only have strong strength, good softness and drape, but also can undergo post-treatment such as hydrophilic, water repellent and anti-static. The commonly used materials for skin/core pairing include PE/PP, PE/PA, PP/PP, PA/PET, etc.
Parallel fibers for spunbond fabrics
The commonly used symbol for parallel two-component fibers is “S/S”, which is the abbreviation for the first letter of the English word “Side/Side”. Its cross-sectional shape can be circular, irregular, or other forms.
The two components of parallel fibers are usually the same polymer, such as PP/PP, PET/PET, PA/PA, etc. The materials of the two components have good adhesive properties. By optimizing the polymer or process conditions, the two different materials can undergo shrinkage or produce different shrinkage, forming a spiral curled structure in the fibers, giving the product a certain degree of elasticity.
Application of two-component spunbond nonwoven fabric
Due to the various structures and cross-sectional shapes of two-component fibers, as well as the diverse proportions of their two components, two-component fibers possess characteristics that single component fibers cannot possess. This not only allows them to fully cover ordinary non-woven fabric products, but also provides advantages in some fields that ordinary non-woven fabric products do not have.
For example, PE/PP leather core two-component spunbond nonwoven fabric has a softer and more comfortable feel than traditional single component spunbond fabric, with a silky smooth sensation, making it very suitable for making products that come into direct contact with the human body. It is commonly used as a fabric for women’s and infants’ hygiene products. In addition, two-component nonwoven fabrics can also be compounded using ultrasonic lamination, hot rolling lamination, and tape casting to produce various composite products. When conducting hot rolling processing, utilizing the different thermal shrinkage properties of the two component materials, the fibers will undergo permanent three-dimensional self curling under the action of shrinkage stress, resulting in a fluffy structure and stable size of the product.
Two component spunbond nonwoven fabric production line
The production process of the two-component non-woven fabric production line is the same as that of a regular single component production line, except that each spinning system is equipped with two sets of raw material processing, conveying, measuring, and mixing devices, screw extruders, melt filters, melt pipelines, spinning pumps, and other equipment, and uses two-component spinning boxes and two-component spinneret components. The basic process of the two-component spunbond production line is shown in the following figure.
Basic process of two-component spunbond production line
The first two-component spunbond production line of Hongda Research Institute has been successfully put into operation, and a turnkey project has been completed with the user. This production line has significant characteristics such as stable and high-speed production, high product uniformity, good softness, high strength and low elongation.
The two-component production line has great application flexibility. When the raw materials of two components are different, or when different spinning processes are used for the same raw materials, the product produced is two-component non-woven fabric. When two components use the same raw materials and the same process, the product produced is ordinary single component non-woven fabric. Of course, the latter may not necessarily be the optimal operating mode, and the two sets of equipment configured may not be suitable for processing the same raw material at the same time.
Dongguan Liansheng Non woven Technology Co., Ltd. was established in May 2020. It is a large-scale non-woven fabric production enterprise integrating research and development, production, and sales. It can produce various colors of PP spunbond non-woven fabrics with a width of less than 3.2 meters from 9 grams to 300 grams.
