What bag is good for grape bagging? How to bag it?

In the process of grape cultivation, bagging is carried out to effectively protect grapes from pests and diseases and to preserve the appearance of the fruit. And when it comes to bagging, you have to choose a bag. So what bag is good for grape bagging? How to bag it? Let’s learn about it together.

What bag is good for grape bagging?

1. Paper bag

Paper bags are divided into single-layer, double-layer, and three-layer according to the number of layers. For varieties that are difficult to color, it is advisable to choose double-layer paper bags, and the color of the paper bags also has requirements. The surface of the outer bag should be gray, green, etc., and the inside should be black; A variety that is relatively easy to color can choose a single-layer paper bag, with a gray or green exterior and a black interior. Double sided paper bags are mainly for protection. When the fruit is ripe, the outer layer can be removed, and the inner paper bag is made of semi transparent paper, which is beneficial for grape coloring.

2. Non woven cloth bag

Non woven fabric is breathable, transparent, and impermeable, and can also be recycled. In addition, it is understood that using non-woven bags for grape bagging can increase the content of soluble solids, vitamin C, and anthocyanins in fruits, and improve fruit coloring.

3. Breathable bag

Breathable bags are derived products of single-layer paper bags. Generally, breathable bags are made of high transparency and relatively thin paper. The breathable bag has the best breathability and translucency, which is beneficial for coloring under low light and for fruit development and enlargement. Due to the many holes on the surface of the breathable bag, its waterproof function is not good, and it cannot completely prevent diseases, but it can prevent insects. It is mainly used for facility grape cultivation, such as rain shelter cultivation and greenhouse cultivation grape development.

4. Plastic film bag

Plastic film bags, due to their lack of breathability, prevent the removal of moisture and carbon dioxide, resulting in a decrease in fruit quality and easy shrinkage after bag removal. Therefore, it is not recommended to use plastic film bags for grape bagging.

How to bag grapes?

1. Bagging time:

Bagging should start after the second thinning of the fruit, when the fruit powder is basically visible. It should not be done too early or too late.

2. Bagging weather:

Avoid hot weather after rain and sudden sunny days after continuous rainy weather. Try to choose normal sunny days before 10am in the morning and when the afternoon sunshine is not intense, and end before the rainy season to reduce the occurrence of sunburn.

3. Pre bagging work:

A simple sterilization work should be carried out the day before grape bagging. A simple ratio of carbendazim and water is used to soak each grape in the entire facility, which has a sterilizing effect.

4. Bagging method:

When bagging, the bag is bulging, open the breathable hole at the bottom of the bag, and then hold the bottom of the bag by hand from top to bottom to start bagging. After putting all the fruits in, tie the branches tightly with wire. The fruit should be placed in the center of the fruit bag, the fruit stalks should be tied together, and the branches should be lightly tied tightly with iron wire.

The above is an introduction to grape bagging. Regardless of the grape variety, it is necessary to carry out bagging work and choose suitable fruit bags. Nowadays, many grape growers basically use daylight fruit bags, which are half paper and half transparent. They can not only prevent diseases and pests, but also observe the fruit growth status in a timely manner.
