In short, in order to produce spunbonded nonwoven fabrics, the primary polymer is melted at temperature, spun, and then extruded to distribute it in continuous threads, causing them to tangle together. To complete this process, a preheated drum (called a calender) passes through the material of the bonded fibers. The calender also imprints its unique mesh pattern, usually square or oval, on non-woven fabrics. This process makes non-woven fabrics softer and more resistant.
